Hourly Rate:  

  • Starting at $27.20 per hour with a raise to $34 per hour upon completion of a 120 working day probationary period 

  • Opportunity to bid into higher paying positions after 120 working days.

Thermal Treat Furance Operator 

The Thermal Treat Furnace Operator works in processing seamless tubing, bars, through car type, roller hearth, and tunnel furnaces for thermal treatment operations. This role is responsible for coordinating furnace activities, controlling heat-treating cycles, maintaining product quality and material identification, and ensuring safe, efficient production. The position also supports equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and production reporting activities. 

 

Employees in this position may be required to operate or use equipment such as: car type, roller hearth, and tunnel furnaces; radio-controlled overhead cranes; floor-controlled pendant cranes; lift trucks; quench tanks; stress relieve pits; band saws; power hack saws; data collection devices; pyrometers; potentiometers; hand tools; and other production-related equipment. 

  • This position requires the ability to work a rotational and flexible shift and may include holidays, weekends, and overtime. 

  • Manufacturing work environments may include exposure to extreme temperatures, moving equipment, noise, dust, and other industrial conditions. 

  • On-the-job training is provided. 

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • High school diploma or GED. 

  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing or industrial environment. 

  • Ability to read and follow production schedules, work instructions, and thermal treatment procedures. 

  • Ability to understand and monitor temperature controls, heat treating cycles, and production specifications. 

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. 

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move materials as required. 

  • Ability to operate or learn to operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. 

  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, safety, and productivity.

 

Preferred Requirements 

  • Previous experience in steel manufacturing, thermal treatment, heat treating, metal processing, or heavy industrial operations. 

  • Experience operating industrial furnaces, quench systems, or heat treating equipment. 

  • Experience operating overhead cranes, pendant cranes, and forklifts. 

  • Knowledge of annealing, quenching, stress relieving, and thermal treatment processes. 

  • Experience using temperature monitoring equipment such as pyrometers and potentiometers. 

  • Experience with production reporting systems and data collection devices. 

  • Mechanical maintenance and equipment troubleshooting experience.
