Purpose:

This position will lead, direct, and supervise the emergency services department and administer all direct security, fire protection and Armed Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) services and technologies provided by the emergency services department for all Metallus facilities. The security manager is responsible for developing and implementing security policies, conducting risk assessments, and managing security personnel and budgets. They also are responsible for protecting the company's assets, employees, and data by overseeing security operations, investigating incidents, and creating emergency response plans. Key duties involve training staff, ensuring legal compliance, and liaising with external agencies such as police, fire and EMS. This position may be required to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, protocols, and procedures to protect people, assets, and information.  Oversee the development and implementation of security, fire protection and EMS audits at all Metallus facilities.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and devise strategies to mitigate threats, theft, vandalism, and other security risks. 
  • Train, supervise, and schedule security personnel to include the fire chief, shift supervisors, and armed EMTs.  Provide oversight into contract security.
  • Investigate security breaches, incidents, and threats, and coordinate responses to emergencies. This includes developing and testing emergency and evacuation plans. 
  • Oversee incident response and incident command.  Audit response and outcome of emergency calls.  
  • Monitor access control, alarms and cameras.  
  • Manage DNA, Fireworks, Regroup, Inspect & Track and Omnigo.  
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security, privacy, and legal regulations. 
  • Manage the Emergency Medical Dispatch program.  
  • Oversee the EMT program as well as the OH EMS Terminal Distributor Drug License.  
  • Develop and manage the security budget and control expenses for security operations. 
  • Communicate security status, policies, and procedures to management and employees. Liaise with law enforcement and other external agencies. 
  • Train and educate employees on security policies, procedures, and emergency response protocols. Conduct training in areas such as firearms, handcuffing, baton, CPR, AED and First Aid.  Participate in workplace violence and prevention.  Comply with OPOTA firearms requirements.
  • Recommend and implement new security technologies. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice with at least 12 years of experience in law enforcement, industrial security, or EMT roles. 
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Basic certification

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice with at least 10 years of experience in a law enforcement, industrial security, or EMT role.
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Advanced certification
  • OPOTA Firearms certification
