Purpose:

The Product Launch position exists to lead manufacturing components (MC) new business projects from development through implementation, production part approval process (PPAP), both externally and internally, which commercializes a MC opportunity. This role will ensure the flawless launch of large scale / complex programs (including application development projects and continuous improvement projects) using the launch process, keeping the program on time, and within budget. This position will require approximately 20-30% travel.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead MC new business projects from development through start of production and into steady state.  
  • Manage the flawless launch of large-scale / complex programs (including AD projects) using the launch process (NPEs, flawless launch checklist, etc.) and customer specific protocols.
  • Responsible for representing Voice Of the Customer (VOC) on the launch team and keeping the program on time and within budget.
  • Manage risk on new programs including customer-initiated changes, internal initiated changes, by identifying critical areas for success and developing contingency plans.
  • Execute new business growth in accordance with annual operating plan targets and meet established business KPIs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external and internal customers at all levels.
  • Communicate requirements and manage process for customer reimbursable tooling and gauging. Provide input and support for Appropriation Requisitions (AR) for MC projects,
  • Develop a base knowledge to support to profitable quotations, make-vs-buy analysis, portfolio analysis and profitability discussions.  Develop base knowledge to support identification of new value-added growth opportunities that leverage Value Add product and service capabilities and fit the marketing/portfolio strategy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with at least 7 years of experience in automotive, manufactured components, or manufacturing. 
  • Associate's degree in engineering technology or engineering with at least 4 years of experience in automotive, manufactured components, or manufacturing. 
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or engineering with at least 2 years of experience in automotive, manufactured components, or manufacturing. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with at least 12 years of experience in automotive, manufactured components, or manufacturing. 
  • Associate's degree in engineering technology or engineering with at least 9 years of experience in automotive, manufactured components, or manufacturing. 
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or engineering with at least 7 years of experience in automotive, manufactured components, or manufacturing.
