Internship Assignment: Full-Time - Summer 2025

  • Work with an experienced process control engineer to implement industrial automation at one of our three Canton steel facilities.
  • Utilize PLCs (Programable Logic Controllers), Servers, Robotics, and an assortment of other computer hardware to improve and automate the making of steel.
  • Develop HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces) to improve end-user experience and overall process efficiency.
  • You will have the opportunity to interact with programming tools like Ladder Logic, Visual Studio C#, SQL, and more.
  • Some projects you may be exposed to or assist with include: installation of a new robotic grind line, modernization of our PLC infrastructure, new furnace installation, and other activities that improve factory safety, steel quality, production rates, data collection, and the reliability of our equipment.

 

Internship Qualifications

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Must have completed 30 or more credit hours by the end of the spring 2025 semester
  • Must be a full-time student attending an accredited two-year or four-year college/university
  • Preferred majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related
  • Knowledge of C or C# preferred; knowledge of other languages is helpful
  • Ability to learn new skills and processes quickly
