Purpose
The purpose of this position is to lead the support of the company’s quality systems; the functional aspects as well as the technical and system configurations. A key aspect of this role is ensuring data integrity and compliance. A key role this position fulfills is that of an IT project manager of key business projects. This position must be skilled at interpreting the business requirements to ensure that our processes and systems are configured to achieve those business objectives. The position requires skill at planning for tasks, and management of timelines and resources to meet those business objectives and good test plans. This position will lead projects and direct the assigned associates within the Quality Systems area as they work on initiatives and projects. They are expected to provide consultation services, leadership and strategic direction for new technologies or enhancements required or desired by the business or required by the systems. This involves the direction of Metallus associates as well as external contractors, the project schedule, and the project budget.
Responsibilities
- Leading the technical and functional requirements development related to system releases, including regression testing.
- Leads the support to security related change requests and security access.
- Leads the team on supporting standard configuration and/or additional changes classified as Minor Enhancements.
- This position is a recognized leader in the IT organization by the business and is widely known as a business process/functional expert. Thus, this person is expected to interact with personnel in other business units (Manufacturing, Process Control, Plant Maintenance, etc.) as well as other companies, to construct relationships that increase business knowledge, technical expertise and/or validate business systems decisions.
- Set direction for these systems by partnering with the quality team as well as with key service providers and external IT consulting services
- Lead the external IT consulting resources on any Quality Systems support efforts.
- Lead the technical and functional requirements development for the company’s document management systems.
- Direct technical support and project efforts for document management systems.
Technical / Functional Skills
- Functional knowledge of configuration in the Quality Systems to have the ability to analyze requirements, trouble-shoot technical issues and make recommendations for improvement of processes, where appropriate.
- Expertise with collaborating with the business users (functional leads, managers) to gather/define/document functional requirements for all Manufacturing and Quality Systems.
- Ability to lead both the tactical and strategic activities required to ensure the company has appropriate systems to manage key Quality functions Interfacing with level 2 systems, Steel Certifications, Test Results, etc.
- Lead multiple efforts/projects concurrently.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or related with at least 8 years’ experience in technical software applications, programming, leading large projects, and resource planning.
Or
Master of Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or related with at least 6 years’ experience in technical software applications, programming, leading large projects, and resource planning.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or related with at least 10 years’ experience in technical software applications, programming, leading large projects, and resource planning.
Or
Master of Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or related with at least 8 years’ experience in technical software applications, programming, leading large projects, and resource planning.
