Purpose and Scope:
This job exists to ensure an uninterpretable supply chain of major/minor alloys, carbons, fluxes, and other furnace supplies. It provides value for our melting operation by assuring that quality materials are delivered in a timely manner. This position is accountable to develop both new and existing suppliers and requires constant attention to inventory management. This position will also lead in developing and maintaining the writing and distribution of our yearly RFQ's, collecting, reviewing and negotiating pricing, developing yearly purchase orders, reviewing global pricing trends of the of major/minor alloys, carbons, fluxes and other furnace supplies, as well as being responsible for the administration on the mill services contract (Levy).
Responsibilities:
- Develops sourcing strategy for major/minor alloys, lime, fluxes, furnace supplies, and mill services.
- Leads and negotiates annual/multi-year contracts for assigned commodities.
- Leads the procurement of the major/minor alloys, carbon, limes, wire, and fluxes by developing and distributing RFQ's to potential suppliers, furnace suppliers, and mill services.
- Manages inventory for assigned commodities.
- Manages material trials for assigned commodities and all alloys.
- Manages consigned inventory programs for major/minor alloys.
- Manages and assures appropriate service level is provided for mill services and Levy contract.
- Manages the routing and approval process for invoices related to mill services.
- Identifies and develops new suppliers and works to enhance existing supplier relationships.
- Works closely with operations to report consignment information in a timely manner.
- Manages inventory levels to align with production levels.
- Develops and institutes trials of new alloy material with operations.

- Strong analytical skills
- Familiarity with purchasing management systems (e.g. Mayer, Maximo, etc.)
- Familiarity with SAP, Purchasing and Alloy Management systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering, Math, or Supply Chain and 12 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with familiarity around major/minor alloys, limes, carbons, fluxes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Business, Engineering, Math, or Supply Chain and 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with familiarity around major/minor alloys, limes, carbons, fluxes.
