Purpose
The purpose of this position is to develop, recommend and implement the supply chains for indirect parts and services to support steel production.
Responsibilities
- Identify, approve, & implement supply chains for indirect parts and services.
- Provide analysis to support strategic sourcing recommendations, programs, & decisions.
- Resolve purchasing and supply chain issues for indirect parts and services by working with Finance, IT, & End Users.
- Manage master data including items, vendors, and price contracts.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement/cost saving programs to support long length production, including tracking and reporting savings.
- Lead new supplier “on-boarding” including initial supplier assessment, training on systems and processes, and performance expectations.
- Provide analysis to support strategic sourcing decisions by purchasing team.
- Lead in the development of RFQs and provide evaluation of supplier bids.
- Lead the development/improvement of purchasing quality system.
- Track commodity inflation and compare with applicable price indices. Develop metrics that measure effectiveness and opportunities and identify trends. Gather economic and industry indices and use in developing pricing & inflation forecasts.
- Lead the supplier development effort.
- Work with Suppliers to develop and implement continuous improvement programs.
- Lead the negotiation process and collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate and monitor utilization of strategic supplier contracts.
- Establish Master Service Agreements with key suppliers that focus on continuous improvement, and EH&S performance
- Monitor commodities spend and approve PO’s.
- Manage the lift truck repairs.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of ERP system – Maximo & SAP
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel

- Comfortable working in a heavy manufacturing environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering with 12 years of experience in ERP/SAP/Maximo, project management, conflict resolution, contract creation and execution, and negotiation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering with 10 years of experience in ERP/SAP/Maximo, project management, conflict resolution, contract creation and execution, and negotiation.
